George H. W. Bush

Presidency

George H. W. Bush ran for and was elected President in 1988. His Vice - Presidential running mate was Dan Quayle. In 1989 George Bush sent American troops into Panama to capture their dishonest leader, Manual Noriega.

George Bush was President at the time of the end of the Cold War. On November 9, 1989 the Berlin Wall came down.

President Bush faced another challenge when Saddam Hussein, President of Iraq at the time, invaded Kuwait. George Bush led the fight against Hussein with Operation Dessert Storm, which was a success.

President Bush was not as successful with the economy. America went into a recession during his presidency and some feel this is why he was not elected to a second term.
