James Madison was the oldest child of twelve brothers and sisters. His great-great grandfather was a tobacco farmer from England. James Madison's wife's name was Dolley Payne Todd. James Madison had no children. He attended Princeton University. He is remembered most for the hand he had in creating the basic rules for governing the United States.
