Home And State

Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th president. He was born on October 27, 1858 and died on January 6, 1919. His birthplace was in New York City, he lived in Sagamore Bay, New York and died in Oyster Bay, New York. When he lived in New York City, he lived in a town house. That house was a four-story brownstone house. He lived in a wealthy family that had a big house where he even had a library in it, and a little galleria of pictures in his house. The house address was 28 East 20th street between Broadway and Park Avenue South. He lived in that house until he was 15 years old then moved to a mansion at 6 West 57th Street in New York City. Theodore Roosevelt's old house where he lived up to 14 years of age was demolished in 1916, but then after Theodore Roosevelt's death on January 6, 1919 it was reconstructed as a replication by the Women's Roosevelt Memorial Association. They put the same furnishing it had and the same decoration it had at that time when Theodore Roosevelt was living. Now Theodore Roosevelt's house is a place where you can visit and see how his house was when he was a kid. He lived at Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay, Long Island from the time he was 27 until his death. The address of at house is 20 Sagamore Hill Road, Oyster Bay, NY 11771-1899.

New York is a wonderful state. It is famous for a lot of things. It has Niagara Falls, museums, Broadway shows, and many famous restaurants. In addition, there are sports' teams, such as the New York Yankees, the New York Mets, the New York Jets, New York Giants, New York Knicks, New York Rangers, and New York Islanders. Last but not least there is the Statue of Liberty. The New York state flag is emblazoned on a dark blue field is the state coat of arms. The goddess Liberty holds a pole with a Liberty Cap on top. Liberty stands for freedom. At her feet is a discarded crown, representing freedom from England at the end of the revolutionary war. On the right is the goddess, Justice. She wears a blindfold and carries the scales of justice. Meaning that everyone receives equal treatment under the law. The state motto "Excelsior" on a white ribbon expresses the idea of reaching upward to higher goals. On the shield a sun rises over the Hudson highlands and ships sail the Hudson River. Above the shield is an eagle resting on a globe representing the Western Hemisphere.
