George Washington

George Washington was born on Pope's Creek Plantation in West Moreland County, Virginia, on Feb. 22, 1732. George Washington's home state is Virginia, which is 70 miles south of Washington D.C. Virginia is bordered by Maryland, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and the Atlantic Ocean.

Washington brought his family to his estate at Mount Vernon in 1759. He died there in 1799. He was buried Christmas Day, 1799,  at his home in Virginia. A memorial home was built on the property and is now maintained by the National Park Service and open to the public.
