Fifth
grade students at Santa
Fe Trail Elementary School,
in Independence, Missouri, worked to
develop a site-based business enterprise in which they created and published
a 12 month calendar featuring local architectural landmarks and sites
of the Kansas City area. Images and text that appear on this website are
from that calendar. Seventy-five
students participated in this community
based project in which they shared their talents and skills in documenting
architectural landmarks through photography, illustration, and research.
Graphic design professionals assisted in guiding students in the final
layout and calendar design. As
a result, all student participants and their families received
a published color calendar free of charge. The remaining 2003 calendars
are available for sale at $16.00. All donations support this student-business
enterprise into the 2003-04 school year. Those interested in purchasing
a calendar may contact: Santa Fe Trail
