Dear Martin,

Our class is so happy that you won first place in the Iditarod race this year. Every morning was exciting as we checked your progress in the race on our computer. We learned so much about Alaska and the history of the race, as well as all that you had to do to get ready for the race. We watched the video of you arriving in Nome, and it was really thrilling!

You must have taken good care of your dogs, because they ran very well. You ended with only 10 dogs. What happened to the others? Did any of them get hurt?

Congratulations on your wonderful record-breaking win, and on becoming a United States citizen. We look forward to following you in next year's Iditarod race!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Birch's Second Grade Class
