Dear Doug,

Our Kindergarten class in Waterford, New York followed your progress in this year's eIditarod project. I wish to congratulate you on your marriage, and wish you good luck in your future endeavors. The kids had a positively fabulous time following the race at school and at home. We had the opportunity to explore many facets of life in Alaska and the arctic. The children brought in many newspaper articles and printouts from webpages concerning the race.

I was pleased to see the level of support I received from the families of the students. We were able to use the Iditarod as a basis for lessons in math, language arts, social studies, and science. We are sad that you no longer plan to race, but we won't be surprised to see your name in the lineup again in the future. Again, congratulations for finishing the last great race, and thank you for providing us with a wonderful learning opportunity.
