Innovative staff development:
Technology Applications, Multiple Intelligences,
Curriculum Integration and Creative Education.
Let's see what we can do for your staff!

We wrap up volume four of ITN with a look at some current hot technologies for instruction. These are not so much cutting edge in terms of technology as much as they are cutting edge in the ways they integrate technology into instruction. As you enjoy the summer months ahead, consider how these products and services can enhance learning for your students. Thanks to Jerry B for his recommendations!

And while we are on the subject of integrating technology into instruction, my first book is now out and available on the ISTE website. "Multiple Intelligences and Instructional Technology—A Manual for Every Mind" discusses appropriate uses of technology while accommodating all the intelligences in the classroom. There is an Excel-based MI inventory that actually determines your distribution of intelligences as you respond to each item, and a long awaited picture-based inventory for nonreaders and teachers of primary students. Other features included in the book are:

    • Introduction of the Wheel of MI Domains, helping to organize the intelligences for lesson planning
    • Recommendations of technologies by intelligence
    • the PEP model for utilizing technology in instruction
    • the POMAT method for maximizing existing lessons for MI
    • MI lesson plan, unit and project templates
    • the OPP method for constructing MI assessments, and
    • numerous examples of MI lessons and units from teachers around the country

There is also an accompanying CD-ROM disk that contains all the inventories and templates presented in the book in digital format for your use in the classroom. You can view "Multiple Intelligences and Instructional Technology—A Manual for Every Mind" online at http://www.iste.org/cgi-bin/bookstore/search.cgi?BrowseBy=SKU&Subject=M&Search=multii or by going to http://www.iste.org/, clicking on Bookstore in the left-hand frame, and then conducting a search for McKenzie.

Have a happy, safe and restful summer. The list will now be idle until the weekend of September 2, 2002 when volume 5 of the Innovative Teaching Newsletter will begin!
